Beautiful 2011!!

I am so thankful for all the wonderful things that happened this year, and some of the highlights are:

MARCH - Had a great summer vacation with the whole family. Everyone was there. But now, the thought that I may have to wait for several years for that to happen again, saddens me, but I'm very happy for my sister’s family for a wonderful journey and I wish them good luck for their next home.

JULY - Bali, Indonesia trip with besty Chanty and MayJoy.
It was amazing! Super turista mode.

AUGUST - First time in Boracay
Me and my sis Joan, visited the island for the first time. We fell in love with the place!

NOVEMBER - Attended the Meteorologist Training Course
This could really be It! I am putting my heart and mind into this training and I have never studied this hard before. This started unexpectedly and things just happened fast and smoothly. I am fervently praying that everything goes well for the next months to come.

School again

Tomorrow will be the first day of the 6-month training here in Quezon City and I hope I will be able to adjust quickly. My schedule’s flexible for the past 3 years and this new routine will be a big change for me – will wake up at 6am, take the jeepney, eat at carenderia, sleep in a double deck bed – feels like college again.
Good thing I came here few days early, I had the chance to familiarize myself with the place. I was able to pass by the training area and sadly, I don’t find it safe, so I really have to be more careful now.

NO to Dowell

Do not buy any Dowell appliance. Look what happened to our electric fan:

This is just a year and some months old. This happened the other night. I was about to sleep so I turned on the fan as I normally do. After maybe an hour, one of the blades suddenly broke which caused a very loud noise. I was really surprise to see my fan, still on swing mode but the blades already stopped turning.

We also had a Dowell air cooler before, but it stopped working after a year and few months. So DON'T BUY ANYTHING DOWELL.

Kitchen Musical

I didn't like it. I'm going to rate their pilot episode with 3/10. It was supposed to be an appetizer for the season but I just lost the appetite for the show. Their cover for the song Unwell and Maneater is awful. I know each of them is a good singer or dancer but I don't see any chemistry between the characters. If this was a stage play, maybe it'll be good, but not on TV.

Showbiz Surprise!

I was really surprised when I learned that they are already married. Paul was my 2nd favourite during American Idol season 10 (next to Haley). Things happened so fast for them.  Their first meeting was last MARCH during the premiere of Red Riding Hood, when the AI finalists were invited.  Then last MAY they were spotted sporting matching permanent tattoos, and last Sunday, they got married. I hope their  “I DOs” are forever. Ahhhyy, another MATCH MADE IN HOLLYWOOD.

Another surprise,  SYLAR (Zachary Quinto) is gay.

35th Milo Marathon

(Nedz, Ras, Rai, Yanex, JaneAnne, Gino)
The event was held yesterday at Tagbilaran city which started at 5:30am. It was my first time to join a marathon and me & my friends ran the 5k race. It was a nice experience and I hope there will be more marathons in Bohol in the months to come. It was fun and we ended the race w/ breakfast at Caingget.

Lovin' Boracay

After years of hoping to visit the place, I finally did, with my sister. It was the perfect time to visit, during off peak season. We were able to have fun at the beach, have water sport, have a wonderful night out, relax, and work at the same time. Yeah, we are boring; we brought work with us, while enjoying their happy hour. :)

We had to travel from Bohol, took a fast ferry to Cebu then took a 50 min flight to Caticlan. Upon arrival at their airport, we registered at their tourist desk and paid 115php per head and this includes tricycle (from airport to seaport), boat fare (caticlan to boracay) and environmental fee. So there was no hassle since you already paid everything and just present your tickets when needed. It's just convenient so it's not really practical to pay transfers w/ your hotel.

When we arrived at the Boracay port, we took a tricycle going to our hotel at station 3, Arwana hotel and our vacation began.

@ Charlhs bar, a good place to just relax and enjoy the acoustic music..

helmet diving, it was a nice experience

enjoying Boracay beach

I love Boracay and I'll definitely go back

Mamma Mia

Mamma Mia the Musical is coming to Manila next year, on Jan 24-Feb 05 and I'll definitely watch it. I am a fan of ABBA songs and I am sure that I’m going to enjoy it. The movie is great and it will be more awesome to see it live on stage! I am excited.  The venue is in CCP Main Theater and ticket prices ranges from 800-7200 pesos.

Miss Saigon, you’re still on top of my list, but I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to see you. But I Still Believe that the Sun and Moon will hear my wishes so there will be a chance for me to watch the musical in my mind, before the Last Night of the World.  :)

Wicked is also coming to Singapore this December, but I know I can't be there, so Mamma Mia, here I go!!

Travel, trip, tour

Thank God I'm blessed with travels, and next stop will be Boracay, with my sister. I've been wanting to go to this place since I don't know when and finally, we have booked a ticket and a hotel for next week. I just pray there won't be any more typhoon.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

I hope there will be more travels to come. There are still more places to visit in my list and I gotta make it happen. Nothing can replace the thrill and joy I experienced during my trips, not even an iPad, but i still want one. ;)

Afternoon Delight

By Joseph and Nabela, Bohol wedding singers, best cover so far...

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some afternoon delight
My motto's always been, when it's right it's right
Why wait until the middle of the cold dark night

When everything's a little clearer in the light of day
and we know the night is always gonna be there anyway

Thinking of you's working up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together make the sparks ignite
And the thought of rubbin' you is gettin' so excited

Sky rocket's in flight, afternoon delight
Afternoon delight, afternoon delight

Started out this morning feeling so polite
tryin to catch a fish who wouldn't bite
But i guess im bait a waitin'
And I think I might try nibbling a little afternoon delight

When everything's a little clearer in the light of day
and we know the night is always gonna be there anyway

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ignite
Sky rocket's in flight, afternoon delight
Afternoon delight, afternoon delight

please Be waiting for me, baby, when I come around
We can make a lot of lovin' 'til the sun goes down

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ignite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting

Sky rocket's in flight, afternoon delight
Afternoon delight, afternoon delight
Afternoon delight, afternoon delight

My BALI experience (part II)

The 3rd day at Bali was beach day for us. We rented the same car and this time we only paid 400,000 Rupiah for the whole day. We visited 5 beaches as suggested by our driver/guide, Nyuman.

First beach was for the water sports. We really didn't stay long since we didn't try any. I wanted the Flying Fish but it requires a minimum of 2 and I'm the only one interested, so we hopped to the next stop at Geger Beach, Nusa Dua. They have sunbeds there and we rented it for 20,000 Rupiah (112 PhP).

After two hours, we then proceeded to Padang Padang beach. There aren't many stores in the area so you better buy the things you need before you go here.

We then proceeded to the beautiful Dreamland beach, had so much fun here with the big waves, I literally rolled with the waves.

And to end the day, we went to one of the restaurants in Jimbaran and had a sunset dinner.

My BALI experience (part I)

July was indeed good to me. My trip to Bali went well and I had so much fun. I am so  thankful that I didn’t encounter any problems at Denpasar immigration but it's still so  unfair that only Filipinos are being thoroughly checked.

I departed from SG on the 28th of July, and took a 2hour and 40mins flight by ValuAir  (Jet Star). Upon arrival, I took a cab straight to my hotel,  Sayang Maha Mertha. Chanty and Joy were  already there when I arrived, they came from Bangkok. I know you can find many negative  reviews about this hotel, but this is a cheap hotel, so given the price, it's a  very good deal. Of course, you don't expect to get wine if you paid for water. It was  really basic- bed, shower, towels, soap, breakfast, small swimming pool and friendly  staff who can understand English. It's just a 5-10 minute walk to the beach, the  restaurants and bars, and there's also a convenience store nearby.

We spend the afternoon strolling in the streets of Legian area and walked their long beach line. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach, just relaxing, listening to the sound of the big waves and enjoying a good view of the surfers passing by(wink), while drinking a bottle of their famous Bintang beer.

The next day, we got up early and were able to book an affordable cab for 450,000 Rupiah (2,500 Php) for 10 hours. We're lucky to have a good driver and he can speak English well, too.  First stop is Taman Ayun Temple in Mengwi:

We then proceeded to Ulun Danu, located in lake Beratan, Bedugul. It was very cold there,  and the place is beautiful. In this area you can find very cheap strawberries; you can  get a pack for 5,000 Rupiah (28 Php).

Next stop was at a Gitgit waterfalls.

We stopped for lunch and then proceeded to Ales Kedaton Monkey Forest. If you’re scared of monkeys, don't go there. And do not shop there, it's very expensive.

We then proceeded to Tanah Lot temple, with a spectacular view of the ocean and the rocks, plus a breathtaking sunset. This is also a good place to shop.

For 45 mins

- it felt like i waited for the result of my board exam
- it felt like i waited for the result of the laboratory of a serious illness
- it felt like i waited for the result of an interview for a job i really want

then the officer told me "I already talked to your sister", her statement actually made me speechless since I didn't know what she said to my sis. So I just waited a few minutes more, hoping and praying.

Then finally, they let me IN. :D

Thursday, July 7, 2011

Oh my, July

JULY, please be good to me..

Leaving CEBU

“You never really leave a place or person you love, part of them you take with you, leaving a part of yourself behind.”

I'm leaving Cebu, my home for 10 years and it makes me so sad. I'm starting to be nostalgic and I'm so thankful for all the good and bad times I had...

to Bali or not to Bali

Last week, after reading Chuvaness' experience with the immigration officers in Bali, our initial reaction was to cancel our Bali trip. But after watching the news, and after reading updates on what happened, we might just really push through with it. I'm really hoping that this case will be entertained by the officials in Indonesia.

poem for my bff

I don't remember what year I wrote this, but I gave it to my friend Chanty, years ago. She kept it and reminded me about it. I recently read it again, and it made me smile, everything here is still true.

can't find another you and me
in this world of reality
guess we're really meant to be
and its not a mystery

together we dream and fly
share thoughts that we keep inside
waiting for time to pass by
eyes closed and enjoy the ride

been through high and low
tears fell and dried out
just go with the damn flow
through hesitation and doubt

we laugh out loud though sad
we're drunk but still sober
we're good but very bad
so much ironies we encounter

we're crazy it's real
but i am so much grateful
amidst the odds we still feel
that life is fuckin' beautiful

Haley Reinhart

I won't watch American Idol next week. Haley was eliminated earlier and it's going to be a boring finale. I was really hoping to see Haley and Scotty for the finale. The voting system is so not fair, I  watched again Haley's performances and she's amazing. She improved big time and she could be the next Adele or Alanis.

Anyway, here's Haley's top performances:

Next phone

My Samsung Star's touch pad is defected and it will cost me at least 1k to replace the pad. Argghh.. I'm not getting a touch screen phone again, unless it's an iPhone. And since I can't afford an iPhone, I'll definitely get a Sony Ericsson.

The Duke and Duchess

I watched the Royal wedding earlier and it makes you sigh and wish you will have your own fairytale. Before the wedding, I was able to watch the Bio of princess Catherine and here are some of the interesting facts:

1. When Kate was in high school, she was part of a stage play and her role was a princess and her prince's name during the play was William.

2. When Prince William graduated at the military, Kate's mother was caught chewing a gum, she was criticized because it is not a royalty etiquette.

3. All the guests in their wedding were sent a 22-page etiquette guide.

The whole event was really detailed, and timed and it's just perfect. What's not perfect today is when Casey was eliminated and when I watched Gossip Girl s04e19. The story of Blair and some Prince is just lame.

Well, everyone's talking about The Royal Wedding right now, but next week, Filipinos will all be talking about Pacquiao-Mosley fight.

Turning Tables

When Chasing Pavements was introduced to me, I started liking other songs of Adele. I love the lyrics of her songs. And recently, another song struck me, when it was performed by Gwyneth Paltrow in Glee.

Close enough to start a war,
All that I have is on the floor.
God only knows what we're fighting for,
all that I say, you always say more.

I can't keep up with your turning tables.
Under your thumb, I can't breathe.

So I won't let you close enough to hurt me.
No, I won't ask you, you to just desert me.
I can't give you what you think you gave me.
It's time to say goodbye to turning tables,
To turning tables.

Under hard? The skies I see, ooh.
where love is lost, your ghost is found.
I've lived a hundred storms to leave you.
As hard as you try, no I will never be knocked down.

I can't keep up with your turning tables.
Under your thumb, I can't breathe.

So I won't let you close enough to hurt me, no.

I won't ask you, you to just desert me.
I can't give you what you think you gave me.
It's time to say goodbye to turning tables,
Turning tables.

Next time I'll be braver,
I'll be my own savior.
And if I'm the cause for me,
Next time I'll be braver,
I'll be my own savior,
Standing on two feet.

I won't let you close enough to hurt me, no.
I won't ask you, you to just desert me.
I can't give you what you think you gave me.
It's time to say goodbye to turning tables.
To turning tables,
Turning tables, yeah,
Turning, ooh.

The song helped me realize that I've been blaming him for all our arguments especially in times when I feel like he has not matched what I have given in our relationship, so I turn the tables back at him so he always lose.

Home (Brian McKnight)

Thinking back when we first met
I remember what you said
You said you'd never leave me
I let go of your hand
Built my castle in the sand
But now I'm reachin' out again
And I'm not letting go
Till you

Hold me
Mold me
Sometimes I feel so all alone
See, I gotta find my way back home
So why don't you
Shape me
make me
Wash me whiter than the snow
I gotta find my way
Back home

Master upon my knees i pray
I just want to be the clay
Put your arms around me
Place my life in your hands
Lord, I know I'm just a man
I know you understand
This time I'm not letting go
Till you

Anoint me
Appoint me
Sometimes I feel so alone
See, I gotta find my way back home
So why don't you
Chastise me
Baptize me
Wash me whiter than the snow
I gotta find my way

'Cause I'm lost and alone
I've been wandering
Long enough to know
Humbly I search for you
And I'm not gonna rest
Till you

Choose me
Use me
Sometimes I feel so alone
I'm on my way back home

So why don't you
Direct me
Bless me
Wash me whiter then the snow
I'm on my way
Back home

Nestle commercial

I like the Nestle 100 years commercial. The song used is perfect, it gives you nostalgia.

Friday, April 8, 2011

I will have an oral surgery tomorrow. The growth of my wisdom tooth is abnormal so it needs to be extracted. The thought of the actual surgery is really scary. I’ve been thinking about it since morning and I can’t get it off my mind. I wanted to Google it but I think, seeing pictures or videos about it makes it more scary. I spoke with the dentist’s assistant on the phone and she said that it’s not that painful because of the anesthesia and the dentist is really good.

I don’t know, I’m always scared of dentist or doctors wearing scrubs. I’m not really into medical field. I just can’t imagine myself wearing lydias uniform or hospital uniform. Tomorrow is really scary but I need to this. I’ll just look at the bright side, my sister is going to sponsor the expenses and I’ll have ice cream tomorrow.

I got this message today:

"Don’t just pray for miracle, be someone’s miracle. Don’t just pray for your prayer to be answered, be an answered prayer for someone.
You'll be surprised how you will receive your healing, blessing, and miracles too."

And indeed, I was surprised with the blessing I got today.

So here's what kept me busy for the past few days:

Glee - nothing interesting lately but I still want to watch every song they sing in all episodes

Gossip Girl - a lot of twists and turns. I was curious if there will be Dan & Blair. at first, it was weird, but I was kilig with the last scene of the latest episode.

How I Met Your Mother - Barney's in love!

The Big Bang Theory - well, Raj is so funny

Harry Potter - books and movies. I have a deadline to meet. I need to finish reading everything before they show the last film, which will be on July. I'm starting with book 6 now.

American Idol - I already have my bets, and I really love the Beatles episode.

We still enjoyed Fra Lippo Lippi's concert even if we only had the Bronze ticket. It was worth it especially that he sang his best songs like:

  • Angel
  • Beauty and Madness
  • Everytime I See You
  • Later
  • Light Shade
  • Some People
  • Stitches and Burns

The PLDT customer service rep who won't help

My internet's back so I'm no longer that furious.

I'm using PLDT's DSL and both my internet and phone line didn't work when I got back here in Cebu. So I checked their billing statement to look for a cust service # and only found 171 which is useless since you can only use it using the PLDT line. So I asked my friends to search for a PLDT Cebu office number. I got several numbers. First one, just kept on ringing for hours, the other one is always busy. I was already frustrated since I badly need internet for my work and all I did whole morning was to hear the phone ringing or a busy tone. So after several hours, I was relieved that somebody already answered.

I explained to her that I cannot use 171 since I didn't have a dialtone, but she insisted that I'll use that number coz according to her, that's the only way to get thru tech support. What made me even more furious was when she told me that she couldn't help me so I'd better look for a neighbor who's using PLDT so I can dial 171. The conversation went on for few minutes and I was almost screaming and she wasn't really gonna help me so I dropped the call.

Laughter in the Rain

Song for the rainy days
Strolling along country roads with my baby
It starts to rain, it begins to pour
Without an umbrella we're soaked to the skin
I feel a shiver run up my spine
I feel the warmth of her hand in mine

Oo, I hear laughter in the rain
Walking hand in hand with the one I love
Oo, how I love the rainy days
And the happy way I feel inside

After a while we run under a tree
I turn to her and she kisses me
There with the beat of the rain on the leaves
Softly she breathes and I close my eyes
Sharing our love under stormy skies

Oo, I hear laughter in the rain
Walking hand in hand with the one I love
Oo, how I love the rainy days
And the happy way I feel inside
I feel the warmth of her hand in mine

Oo, I hear laughter in the rain
Walking hand in hand with the one I love
Oo, how I love the rainy days
And the happy way I feel inside
Oo, I hear laughter in the rain
Walking hand in hand with the one I love
Oo, how I love the rainy days
And the happy way I feel inside
(repeat and fade)

Rain rain don't go away

It's been raining since Tue and it's really, really cold. I actually love this kind of weather, doesn't bother me that much since I work at home.  But the downside is, I cannot jog, and you know what that means. We also don't have shower heater, I badly need one these days, but I might not need it this coming summer though, I heard it's going to be so much warmer.

Just Go With It

I'm still a big fan of Jennifer Aniston even though I was disappointed with some of her films. Good thing, her movie last year, The Switch, was not a letdown. And here’s another cute and funny movie to watch out for, this time with Adam Sandler.

Jealous Guy

I'm not sure if I'm going to like the new set of judges for American Idol Season 10, but I'm still excited to pick my new idol. As for the last season, Casey James was my idol and his performance of Jealous Guy was my favourite for the whole season.

HGC Diet

I haven't jogged since I got back here in Bohol and now I feel bloated for the past few days. The long holiday definitely gave me few pounds, so might as well try HCG diet. There are actually so many options now, and HCG Diet is one best choice for many. Losing pounds is just so difficult to do, and I hope HCG Diet will really help me back in shape.

This year will be better than the last....
